Berufsvorbereitendes Praktikum: Python programming with climate modelling applications

10.12.2018  Loughran, T.

We are constantly creating large amounts of model data and observations of the earth system. As a result, there is a growing need to automate data processing tasks, perform analysis in large data-sets, and develop dynamical and statistical models to understand it. In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of programming using Python as an example. Python is an easy-to-learn programming and scripting language that has quickly gained popularity in science, engineering and particularly earth system modelling. Students will apply programming concepts to analyse climate data, and modify existing implementations of simple climate models to understand how they work.

Students may wish to use their own laptop.
