Main objectives of the project encompassed identification of critical research issues and development of effective mechanisms for bridging disciplinary divides regarding natural hazard research. Another focal point was the elaboration of a training programme for young scientists with special attention on acquiring transferable and soft skills. Tandem-lecturer seminars and lectures were prepared and given together with the host researcher to provide cross-disciplinary learning. Moreover, seminars on “Science Communication” have been successfully established. By recording and analysing the participants’ oral presentation of their research, individual advice was given regarding communication skills. Invited guests with cross-cultural experience added a “practical” value to the improvement of transferable expertise. Performance and quality of all seminars were assessed by the students by means of an evaluation sheet.
